Assessment: Shakespeare Unit, part 1

Shakespeare Quiz

Students,

Please click the link above to take the Shakespeare quiz following the PowerPoint Presentation on Shakespeare's life and continued legacy. Included are several questions about literary terms that we will be examining while we study several of Shakespeare's plays. The quiz is meant to test your general knowledge of Shakespeare's life and to give me an idea of how well you know some of the literary techniques used by Shakespeare. This quiz is not worth points but is meant to show me where you are right now.
Please remember that some of these questions will appear on later quizzes and on the exam at the end of the unit.
It is because this quiz is meant to fall towards the beginning of the Shakespeare unit and is meant to test current understanding and not worth points that the quiz is a formative assessment. The large exam at the end of the Shakespeare will cover everything learned during this unit and will be worth a good deal of points; the end-unit Shakespeare exam will be a summative assessment.

The results of this quiz will help to determine which of Shakespeare's plays we will work with during the course of the unit and will help to influence how much time in the unit we spend focusing on literary techniques and Shakespeare's use of them. If necessary, we will also have an exam on literary techniques. Because of this, it would behoove students to refresh their memories of literary techniques so that more time can be spend more time focusing on Shakespeare's works.
